crafting: extract audio from youtube videos

Now, this really isn’t crafting, per se… but it is something that a buddy of mine asked me to do, so I’m attaching the email that I sent him… Because I figure if one person wants to know something, maybe someone else out there that reads the site might also… The names haven’t been changed to protect the guilty.  (Actually, I’m going to just leave them out.:-)

Give a man a fish:
Attached is the mp3 of the tour.

Teach a man to fish:

  1. Download the flv player, install… this will allow you to view flv files, (youtube videos) on your desktop. FLV player :  http://download.cnet.com/FLV-Player/3000-13632_4-10467081.html
  2. Download the download helper.  This is an add-on for firefox, it allows you to download videos from youtube… just click on the button, and you will see various *.flv files in the list.  Download the one that you want.  (I always go for the highest quality, as it also has the highest quality of audio embedded… but that’s just me.) Download helper: http://www.downloadhelper.net/
  3. Download the AoA Audio Extractor.  This will strip out the audio track from the FLV files that you download. AoA Audio Extractor : http://www.aoamedia.com/audioextractor.htm

After you get all of those downloaded/installed it’s pretty self-explanatory.  (download file, strip out the audio, boo-yah.)

That’s it!

You were correct, others like myself, put your tutorial to use on downloading YouTube videos Bro! Now how about some direction on downloading songs? I am aware of Limewire, which there is no fee to share, but tons of money and effort trying to get the viruses out of my system that “are included” with a song. Not had good experience with all that mess. So, is there anywhere elese that offers “top 40” type songs without a fee that are actually licensed? If not, which places i.e. kaaza, Rhapsody and such normally have a lower fee that you have been happy with? Miss Bliss has her first MP3 player and I struggling! lol
