Baby Preparations: Nesting, or Something crazy this way comes…

Nesting is the burst of energy pregnant women, (and some men,) get in preparation for the coming child, when the kid starts Kindergarten, when the kid leaves for College, and other life milestones.

In “So you’re going to be a Dad,” the author says, “If/When the nesting urge comes, don’t fight it, and nobody will get hurt.”

I keep waiting for that to hit… kind of like someone sitting on the tracks waiting for a train.

Thus far, I’ve been pretty lucky in most respects, the only thing that has really affected Kim has been the lack of energy.  No morning sickness, (much to the chagrin of most of the other Mom’s that she knows,) no real cravings, no baby brain, (yet,) no great mood swings.  (Ok, maybe a little, but not nearly as bad as when she had to stop taking birth control pills about 5 years ago… regardless, I feel lucky it’s not as bad as I had imagined it would be.)

Most of the articles I have been reading have said that the nesting urge is ok, just don’t overdo it, keep it safe, and take frequent rest breaks.

One of the interesting things is, most of them say that there is a good chance that I will have the same type of urges.  That would be great!  God knows I need to clean up more around this place, maybe get some things done around the yard, some home repairs…

The worst thing that could happen?  Finding out what channel the new Dr. Who is playing on… 🙂

Anyways, more updates to come, talk to you all later!
